What makes Kashmiri silk carpets special

Material: Pure silk or silk foundation (warp/weft) with silk pile gives a fine, soft texture and shine. Some are “silk-on-silk” (both foundation and pile in silk).

Hand-knotted: True Kashmiri carpets are hand-knotted, often very densely knotted. The more knots per sq inch/sq metre, the finer and more detailed the design and more durable it is.

Designs: Floral, Persian-oriented, medallion-based, sometimes with traditional Kashmiri motifs. Use of Talim (a coded script for design) is common.
